Marie-Louise Hodge (1992) is an Amsterdam based photographer. Her work is at the intersection of documentary and fashion photography and focuses on themes as black culture, the colonial past and social inequality. She draws inspiration from experiences in her own life – as an Amsterdam native, with roots in the former Dutch colonies (Surinam and Curacao).
Cova da Moura – Dexa Mundo Papia (Let the world talk) is Hodge her first solo documentary project. It has been made over the course of two years in which Hodge conducted interviews with the residents, photographed their lives and taught photography classes to children from the community. Every time she came back to the neighbourhood she brought printed pictures from her previous visit.
